Location

The Center for Formulated, Multi-Functional Soft Materials is located within the California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI) on the Santa Barbara campus of the University of California.

Directions

North

US 101 North to Highway 217. Bear right at the traffic circle. Turn left at the first light. The loading/receiving area is on the left before you enter the parking structure, next to the large liquid nitrogen tank. Parking in Lot 10 is for faculty and staff only, although metered stalls for coastal access are also available.

South

US 101 South to Patterson Ave off-ramp, turn left to cross the bridge over the 101, and again turn left to get on Highway 217 (the entrance ramp splits, 217 is to the left, 101 N is to the right.)

 

Parking at UCSB

The University of California, Santa Barbara requires visitors to observe parking regulations and have a valid parking permit while visiting the UCSB campus.

UC Faculty or Staff Permit Holders

There is a reciprocal parking agreement between all UC campuses. If you are in possession of a valid UC parking permit, there is no need to obtain an additional permit when arriving at UCSB. Please proceed to the Mesa Parking Structure as indicated on the map.

Non-UC Visitors

Visitor parking is limited to "C" (Commuter) parking lots between the hours of 7:30AM and 5:00PM. Pay stations accept payment via Visa and Mastercard in addition to $1 and $5 bills (Note: Pay stations do not give change.)

Parking Areas

Faculty permits are also valid in lots labeled "Faculty", and staff permits are valid in lots labeled "Staff". Please watch for spaces or areas within these lots that may have additional restrictions.
Note:  Faculty and staff permits are not valid in restricted areas, restricted spaces, reserved spaces, metered spaces, coastal access spaces or lots/spaces marked for vendors.

Parking in Structure 10, adjacent to Elings Hall

Visitors wishing to park in Structure 10, for 4 hours or less, can purchase parking passes from the permit dispensers in Structure 10. Visitors must park in stalls labeled, "Coastal Access." These passes are valid between 8:00am and 5:00pm.

Visitors wishing to park after 5:00pm or on the weekends in Parking Structure 10 can purchase Evening/Weekend passes from the permit dispensers and do not have to park in spaces labeled, "Coastal Access." Evening passes are valid Monday-Friday between 5:00pm and 7:30am the following morning. Weekend passes are $4.00 and are valid Saturday or Sunday between 7:30am and 7:30am the following morning.
